- Change your vacuum’s bags and filters regularly.
PROFESSIONAL CLEANING- We recommend a professional cleaning at least every 12 months, even if you may clean them yourself in between.

Wear and Tear From baby’s first steps to the thundering foot traffic of shoppers, everyday wear and tear can take its toll on your carpet. But if you treat your carpet well, it will provide you with years of comfort and beauty. Here are some tips and strategies courtesy of Riley’s Carpet and Flooring for minimizing the damage. FOOD and BEVERAGEClean up all spills immediately. TRAFFICOne of the best ways to combat wear-down is to rotate furniture. This alters the paths people take through the room. SUNLIGHTFaded carpet is an eyesore. So to minimize fading, avoid long hours of direct sunlight on your carpet. Close any blinds or shades periodically. And keep in mind trying out a lighter-colored carpet in rooms that are sun-drenched by default. ANIMALSIf you have furry friends that spend a good amount of time indoors, be sure to vacuum often. Also, use a deodorizer on prior “accident” spots. Some animals will have repeat instances because they’re drawn to the scent. Keeping Your Carpet Blemish Free Spills happen—stains don’t have to. No carpet is fully stainproof, so keep these guidelines in mind when a mishap occurs.
- Remove as much of the spill, as fast as possible.
- Do NOT rub or scrub—instead, gently press a clean cloth into the stained area to remove moisture.
- Apply warm water to the area and continue blotting until the cloth stops picking up any semblance of the stain.
- Still see the stain? Mix up a detergent solution (1/4 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid to one cup warm water), apply the solution to the stain, and let sit for five minutes. Rinse with clear warm water, and repeat until all of the solution is removed. Then blot up all remaining moisture.
- Once the carpet is dry, vacuum to restore its texture.
